I made the Compassion Crossword in 2003 for Polymorph, an e-zine sort of thing run by a guy who participated
in my Re-Record project. It was a way to point out the holes in Bush's presidency.
On January 20, 2001, George W. Bush was inaugurated as President of the United States of America.
All the solutions to this puzzle are words intentionally ommitted (by me)
from an excerpt from the inaugural speech that Bush delivered on that day, as recorded by the
New York Times. As a reminder, this is the speech delivered after the ballot fiasco in Florida, and
before the international tragediy of 9-11. Some words are missing...you'll probably be able to use context to
figure them out to complete the crossowrd puzzle. As you do this, I invite you to reflect on the solutions'
significance to you and Bush's presidency.
